Memorial Hall presents IDENTITY: A Song Cycle

Poetry by Shauntay Grant
Produced and Artistically Directed by Elliot Madore
Featuring students from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM)

What defines who we are? How do our experiences, relationships, and the passage of time shape our sense of identity?

Identity: A Song Cycle explores these universal questions through a compelling fusion of music and poetry. Created through a collaboration between baritone Elliot Madore, director Joel Ivany, composer Dinuk Wijeratne, and poet Shauntay Grant, the work is rooted in jazz while drawing inspiration from Western classical music, South Asian and Middle Eastern musical traditions, and contemporary popular music.

This special performance features ten vocalists alongside instrumentalists from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), bringing a fresh perspective to a work that celebrates individuality, belonging, and the shared human experience.
