JBM Promotions, tSGHR & Memorial Hall present Rodney Crowell with Jolene Dixon

With more than 40 years of American roots music under his belt, Texas native RODNEY CROWELL is a two-time Grammy Award winner with five Number One hits of his own, six Americana Music Association Awards including their Lifetime Achievement For Songwriter Award and a legacy of songwriting excellence which has made him an icon among giants. With strong roots in country music, Crowell has written chart-topping hits for the likes of Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Keith Urban and more. But owing to the distinctly universal, literary quality of his writing, has also penned beloved songs for artists as diverse as Bob Seger, Etta James, the Grateful Dead, John Denver, Jimmy Buffett and countless others. A member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Crowell is also the author of the acclaimed memoir, Chinaberry Sidewalks, and teamed up with New York Times best-selling author Mary Karr for Kin: Songs by Mary Karr & Rodney Crowell in 2012, with Karr saying of her collaborator, “Like Hank Williams or Townes Van Zandt or Miss Lucinda, he writes and croons with a poet’s economy and a well digger’s deep heart.” Crowell was honored with ASCAP’s prestigious Founder’s Award in 2017, and that same year released the album Close Ties, which spawned another Grammy nomination for “It Ain’t Over Yet” with Rosanne Cash and John Paul White in the category of Best Americana Song. In 2018, Rodney opened his own record label, RC1 Records. He has released Acoustic ClassicsTEXAS and his upcoming project, Triage, will be out July 23, 2021.

Jolene Dixon is a genuine American Singer Songwriter talent born in Topanga Canyon, California and raised in Franklin, Tennessee. The daughter of the Donivan Cowart the celebrated Country Songwriter and Recording Engineer who helped give us timeless music from the likes of Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell (just to name a few).

Jolene grew up in a truly musical environment and began singing and harmonizing with her sisters and musician parents from a very tender age. Jolene spent countless hours as a guest in her Fathers studio soaking up the sounds and magic during sessions with some of Country and Americana music’s greatest legends. As one can imagine it all made a lasting impression and Jolene began expressing her own experience creatively through song.

Simply put Dixon is a natural, her songs and voice are as rare and unique as they are classic and time honored.  The combination of both traditional and modern influences both musically and geographically helps create a sound that is a well brewed cocktail of great Americana. There is a duality in Dixons voice that is equal parts innocent and seasoned. Her songs seduce the listener with beautiful vulnerability, honesty and a genuine optimism that celebrates and soothes the broken hearted. The classic autobiographical story telling that we’ve all come to love and expect from Country does not disappoint in Dixons songs but they certainly aren’t limited to that framework.

As an artist who divides her time between Tennessee and California it is not a surprise that this unique cultural synthesis is also reflected in the sound of the music. Currently putting the final touches on her debut LP with Producer, Songwriter, Musician extraodinare Kyle Krone at the helm, expect to hear and see great things from this promising new talent in the very near future.
