RESCHEDULED Matinee Musicale presents Pene Pati, Return Engagement by a Gleaming Tenor with Ronny Greenberg, Piano
Winner of the 2012 Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge ‘Bel Canto’ Award
In March 2019, this remarkable native of Samoa, raised and trained in New Zealand and Wales, absolutely dazzled a Matinée Musicale audience at Memorial Hall. Almost immediately there were requests to bring back the singer considered by many to be the next Pavarotti. He won first prize at the 2014 Montserrat Caballé International Arts Competition. He is a graduate of the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera, where he earned praise for his 2017 debut as the Duke in Rigoletto. One of his Cincinnati encores was “O sole mio,” a number often performed with his tenor brother and baritone cousin in their regularly sold-out stadium concerts in New Zealand as Sol3 Mio, in the style of the Three Tenors.
He sings with “firm high notes and thrilling timbre.” His Cincinnati performance “was mesmerizing”
JANELLE GELFAND, CINCINNATI BUSINESS COURIER
“ The fluency and brilliance of Pati’s singing, most notably, is a delight that never stales”
