Idealab Movement Makers
IDEALAB Movement Makers is a day-long event to learn how to harness passion and take an idea from conception to fruition to grow and scale a community movement.
Join emcees Nathan Ivey and Jeri Tolliver throughout the morning with (3) keynote speakers from Detroit, Minneapolis and Cleveland who will share their movement projects.
- Keynote #1 – Sean Mann, co-founder and CEO of Detroit City FC which rehabbed historic Keyworth Stadium through the largest community investment campaign in Michigan history
- Keynote #2 – Carl Atiya Swanson, associate director, Springboard for the Arts, creating connections among artists and communities to make substantial, system-wide change with practical, artist-created toolkits to spark change and stories to inspire connection
- Keynote #3 – Evelyn Burnett and Mordecai Cargill, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, Racial Equity & Inclusion movement for Growing Equity in Northeast Ohio with the 2017 Year of Awareness Building Racial Equity Institute training sessions
After a provided lunch, all guests are invited to participate in a series of breakout sessions in the afternoon, expanding on attendees’ interaction with Movement Maker presenters, encouraging more ideas with process solutions as takeaways. Discussion facilitators include: Tom Merrill, director, Xavier Center for Innovation; Tim Vogt, Starfire Council; and Tamaya Dennard, Civic Innovation Specialist, Design Impact. We’ll regroup at 4pm to hear about each group’s experience and movement concept.
The day will conclude with a networking Happy Hour from 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a cash bar.
