Matinee Musicale: Christina Nam Young Violin Virtuoso

with Rohan De Silva, Piano

Youngest competitor (age 14) and Top Prize Winner of the 2017 Cooper International Violin Competition

“Confident in her technique and playing with consistently alluring tone, Nam breezed through the [Tchaikovsky] concerto and its many challenges with ease.”

     Daniel Hathaway, Clevelandclassical.com

“The stunningly talented Christina Nam brought the afternoon to a serene ending with her fierce commitment and emotionally charged interpretation of the Bach Partita number 2…The end of the concert was first followed by awed silence and then by grateful applause for Nam…”

Rafael de Acha, Rafael’s Music Notes

Since her solo debut at age 9 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Christina Nam has appeared in recitals and as soloist with numerous orchestras and at festivals across the globe.  A native of Cincinnati and graduate of Walnut Hills High School, she is the recipient of many accolades and awards, both at international and national competitions.

In 2018, Nam was invited to participate in the Junior category of the prestigious Menuhin Competition in Geneva, where she was chosen as soloist with the Orchestra of the Geneva Conservatory of Music.  She represented the USA in the Bow Passing Ceremony for the 2020 Menuhin Competition, was a 2019 National YoungArts Winner, a recipient of the Josephine I. and David J. Joseph Jr. Award, and twice won the honor of performing as soloist with the Philadelphia International Music Festival Orchestra. In 2023 Nam will perform the Tchaikovsky Concerto with the Jakarta Symphony Orchestra.
