CCM Faculty Recital: Gi Yeon Koh, Violin and Viola, Jiwon Han, Piano
CCM Faculty Recital
Gi Yeon Koh, Violin and Viola
Jiwon Han, Piano
This faculty recital is the second outing of the violinist and violist Dr. Gi Yeon Koh and pianist Jiwon Han. They will perform two works for violin and piano, Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne and Respighi’s Sonata for Violin in B Minor; and on the viola, Prokofiev’s Romeo Juliet suite and Grieg’s Sonata in A minor, transcribed from the cello. This concert offers the unusual opportunity to listen to a single performer play major works for both violin and viola, allowing the audience to more deeply appreciate the distinct sounds of both instruments. No tickets are necessary for this performance.
Currently a member of the adjunct faculty at CCM Dr. Gi Yeon Koh is a regular recipient of top prizes in competitions and frequent soloist with orchestral ensembles. During a period of just a few years, pianist Jiwon Han was a recipient of major prizes from ten of the world’s most prestigious international piano competitions. Dr. Koh and Mr. Han made the first recital at University of Wisconsin, Whitewater as a duo in 2018-2019 season.
