Black Dance Is Beautiful On Film Festival

Black Dance Is Beautiful On Film Festival is a cultural event designed to show diversity in dance in Cincinnati. BDIB on Film Festival will provide free public screenings of the film “Black Ballerina” as well as a one day screening of five additional films focusing on the wide spectrum of African Americans in dance. In addition to the documentary movies, there will be a panel of dancers, directors, and filmmakers, who will engage in a question and answer period with the audience, after opening with a moderator on the state of Black dance in America today: the opportunities and challenges. One very brief live performance (3-5 minutes) will take place following the first half of the day’s films. This project is deeply committed to educating the Cincinnati community about the beauty and absence of black dancers from the mainstream arts conversation. A brief question and answer session featuring a panel of dancers and directors will occur after the film festival.
